It did not only happen to us. Here is what other people wrote.
Since this site went up, messages have been arriving at we-sucks@sonybravia.com from people we have never met. Some are encouragement, some are advice, and some are somebody's own Sony case. What follows is a selection of those, published only where the sender told us we could. Others are not shown, and more keep arriving.

We are not the only ones. This keeps happening to people, and they keep telling us.
These are accounts as their senders wrote them, published with permission, anonymised at their request, and not verified by us.
If anything here is wrong, tell us and it is corrected or it comes down.
This is a fraction of what has arrived.

Sony BRAVIA 75Z9J · bought 2022
- What failed
- Video sync dropped out at random, starting about three months in and after a software update.
- What they were told
- Sony engineering asked for the purchase to be refunded, they say, while customer service told them it was a software issue and to wait for an update. By September 2026, they say, no update has fixed it.
- What they were asked to pay
- Nothing. They bought an external streaming device to work around it.
- Where it stands
- They wrote privately to Sony's chief executive with a video of the fault, and say they never had a reply.

Sony BRAVIA 7, K65XR70U · bought from a Sony Centre in London
- What failed
- The set stopped turning on entirely after about a year. It was itself a replacement for a 65X95L that made loud clicking noises from new and was swapped out five months in. They count three Sony sets failing on them in five years.
- What they were told
- They asked for a refund rather than a third repair. Sony refused the refund, they say, and would only agree to repair it.
- What they were asked to pay
- About $2,700 (£2,000) they say they are owed for the last year.
- Where it stands
- In court with Sony now. They say they took Sony to court five years ago and won.

Sony BRAVIA X90L · bought September 2024, with a two-year extended warranty
- What failed
- They say the problem was there when they bought it. Sony inspected the set, told them it was not a fault, and assured them it would be replaced if anything went wrong. Black spots appeared on the screen later.
- What they were told
- Sony now calls it external damage.
- What they were asked to pay
- About $700 (₹62,000).
An owner in London
Sony KD49XF8505 · bought March 2019, about $800 (£595), with a seven-year warranty
- What failed
- Failed in January 2020, ten months in.
- What they were told
- On the phone they were told it was covered. After an inspection at a repair centre it was called physical damage, and they say they were asked whether they would like it recycled. They escalated, and say the manager sent back the same response word for word.
- What they were asked to pay
- The warranty was refused outright.
- Where it stands
- They filed a small claims court claim. Sony asked the repair centre for its report, there was none, a second inspection was arranged at their home, and Sony then offered a refund and collected the set.
